Lenovo Ideapad 110 (80V70008US) might have caught your attention, after all it is a budget notebook with some positive reviews. These kind of laptops are often actually the most popular ones because they can do everything a casual user wants. But caution must be exercised before buying…

General performance

The worst thing in performance section is probably the hard drive. Lenovo Ideapad 110 (80V70008US) sports an old technology 1TB 5400RPM hard drive. Considering the drive of today is SSD, the choice here might not make all users happy. The current HDD can feel sluggish to use if you’ve been using solid-state drives. You can of course replace the hard drive inside but you need skills for that.

The processor is AMD A6-7310 and it is as fast as 4th generation Intel Core i3s. So not too snappy but decent for day-to-day computing. It has a clock speed of 2.0GHz, slightly higher 2.4GHz turbo and a quad-core setup. Score in CPU Mark is around 2600.

Just 4GB RAM is included which goes for a home user but for more serious use I’d recommend 8GB. Luckily, you can indeed upgrade to eight gigabytes with a little effort. That is the maximum RAM here.

How it works for gaming?

You can’t call this Lenovo a gaming machine. It features integrated graphics chip AMD Radeon R4 which is comparable to older Intel HD models. Games like GTA 5, Far Cry 4 and The Witcher 3 are out of your reach, however less demanding titles run decently, those including Fifa 14, Counter-Strike: Go and Minecraft.

Ports and connections

Not too many ports are found in Lenovo Ideapad 110 (80V70008US). Two USB ports are at your disposal, one of them is USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0. Of course you can also hook up external monitor to this thing thanks to the HDMI output.

For networking there’s a RJ-45 jack if you want to use cable, or a AC standard supporting WiFi card with Bluetooth 4.1 enabled.

This thing has an optical drive, a DVD burner indeed. And like always, SD card slot is provided too.

Other important things

I only expect Lenovo Ideapad 110 (80V70008US) to have a basic screen. The 15.6 inches display operates on 1366×768 resolution which is probably enough if you’re not a power user. It’s a LED-lit display without touch screen function. Webcam can be found in the usual position, in the top bezel.

The battery life of this unit is just around 3 hours. So definitely not good if you’re looking for a portable notebook.

Keyboard is not backlit but I understand it considering the price.

Summing it up

Lenovo Ideapad 110 (80V70008US) is a simple, no-frills laptop for home users that mostly browse web, send emails and watch a video or two off streaming services. For this kind of lightweight use the components inside are excellent, however if you’re dreaming about gaming you’d better choose something beefier. Keep your expectations in check and you should find this Lenovo a good option to go for!
