Lenovo IdeaCentre 700-25ISH is one of the newer desktops meant for heavy use, this is evident in the component set-up of Core i7 processor, 8GB RAM and a solid-state drive. The unit, of course, also costs a bit more than your regular one, so it will be examined below whether the computer is really worth your money or not…

The good

Superb processor – Intel Core i7-6700 is a processor from 2015, belonging to the Skylake (6th generation) series. You’ll find it reaches closer to 10000 points in CPU Mark, which only a couple of common CPUs can beat. The chip offers four cores for extra performance, and a high clock speed of 3.4GHz and turbo of 4.0GHz. In terms of processing power, there’s nothing this Dell couldn’t do for you.

A solid-state drive – Not an everyday sight in a desktop computer, Lenovo IdeaCentre 700-25ISH features a 128GB solid-state drive. It’s fast but unreasonable small alone, luckily there’s also a 1TB 7200RPM SATA 3 hard drive giving you a lot of storage space for files. Hence, you shouldn’t need to do any hard drive upgrades here.

Strong graphics card – GeForce GTX960 (2GB memory) is the graphics unit you’re getting here. It’s a dedicated card, even so good it can be called a gaming-friendly engine. You’re able to get a nice 50-60FPS with most games using 1080p and higher settings. For example, GTA 5 will get that using very high and 1920×1080, although The Witcher 3 would get ~40FPS using high and 1080p.

The neutral

Healthy amount of memory – Lenovo IdeaCentre 700-25ISH includes 8GB DDR4 RAM. The maximum seems to be 32GB, achievable with two 16GB sticks (yes, DDR4 supports them). Anyway, the current 8GB is already plenty, I think 99% of people would be more than happy with that.

The usual selection of ports – The computer comes with 8 USB ports, four being USB 2.0 and four USB 3.0. For video outputs you can use either HDMI, DVI or VGA – this means also dual displays work with this desktop.

Wireless support – There are two ways to connect this Lenovo to Internet: either the 1000Mbps RJ-45 port or the WiFi adapter which also supports Bluetooth 4.0.

Optical drive included – Of course, a DVD burner is available in the front. It also has a friend, 7-in-1 media card reader, which you can use with SD memory cards.

The bad

Monitor must be acquired separately – This often happens with desktops, but also the Lenovo does not come with a monitor. Basic keyboard and mouse are included, though.

I can not see too many bad things about Lenovo IdeaCentre 700-25ISH. It has everything a power hungry user would need: a powerful processor, a solid-state drive, even a dedicated gaming-ready graphics card. The price is definitely affordable consider what you’re getting; thus I can recommend this desktop for all the power users and gamers (on budget) out there.
