Lenovo Flex 4 (80SA0004US) is a 2-in-1 laptop but not a regular one. See, this unit is very fast, it’s equipped with snappy SSD and Core i5 processor. These things surely give indications about the actual performance of this laptop, but let’s not be too hasty to judge it…

The good

So indeed, Lenovo Flex 4 (80SA0004US) is a laptop of heavyweight performance. To begin with, there’s the low-voltage (yet high speed) Intel Core i5-6200U processor inside. It gives you two cores, 2.3Ghz clock speed and 2.8GHz turbo boost to play with. CPU Mark score is around 4000. In addition, the laptop comes with 8GB RAM which is great for multitasking and keeping heavier programs running smooth.

Another good thing is the solid-state drive. It’s a 256GB model here so in addition to high performance also rather high storage space is offered. And don’t forget this kind of SSD is very durable so if you happen to drop the notebook the drive won’t go broken easily.

The 14-inch IPS touch display offers some eye candy as well. It supports 1080p resolution so image quality should be excellent! Also, the screen rotates far back so the unit will work in laptop, stand, tent and tablet modes. On top of the screen you’ll find a 720p webcam, it is good for video chatting and such.

The bad

Lenovo Flex 4 (80SA0004US) won’t be a great thing for players. It doesn’t contain dedicated graphics so you’ll need to go easy with the settings. Games such as Grand Theft Auto 5 indeed require low-medium settings (and 13667×768 resolution) to reach 25-30 frames per second. Of course, those browser games and types like Minecraft are not an issue for this computer.

What else to keep in mind?

Lenovo Flex 4 (80SA0004US) operates on a 3-cell 52.5Wh battery. I can see that users reported around 6 hours operating time, that is on lightweight use such as web browsing.

The ports on this unit are quite good for a 2-in-1 laptop – of course the size is bigger than most, the 14 inches. Anyway, you’ll find two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port here to plug in your peripherals to. HDMI-output is also at your disposal, feel free to connect HDTV or PC monitor to that.

There’s a built-in high speed 802.11ac WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 adapter in the computer. The notebook doesn’t have RJ-45 port but you can use USB adapter if you want that.

Obviously, DVD burner isn’t available in such a compact model. SD card reader however is.

The keyboard supports backlight.

Like somebody put it, Lenovo Flex 4 (80SA0004US) has an impressive speed. That is evident when you get a powerful Core i5 processor, an SSD and 8GB RAM put into one machine. For every type of software this machine surely works – be it a photo editor or just a regular web browser. Also comparing to other 2-in-1s there are plenty of ports for you. All in all, the Lenovo is a fast if bit pricey notebook, get it if your budget allows!
