HP ENVY 34-a010, being one of the most expensive All-in-One desktops, might have piqued your interest. Why is it so pricey, is it so powerful then? Well, it has a huge screen and snappy processor for starters. But there’s much more to the desktop than those… So read this review to find out the advantages and weak points!

Main components and how they help you

Intel Core i5-6400T is the processor running the HP ENVY 34-a010 show. Being a quad-core CPU it’s good for multitasking, and the clock speed 2.2GHz (2.8GHz with turbo) is adequate to keep everything from web browsing to editing images running smooth. The memory amount 12GB DDR4 is wonderful too, with 8GB sticks and 4GB sticks in place. Upgrading to a maximum 16GB is possible.

An essential main component is also the storage drive. In this computer it’s a full terabyte hard drive, spindle speed being a slow 5400RPM. There is no solid-state drive by default which is a bit sad. But if you’re skilled enough, opening the case and putting in SSD is one option.

Is it good for gaming?

Surprisingly, HP ENVY 34-a010 has a dedicated graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce 960A with 2GB GDDR5 memory installed. Now, it’s faster than any integrated engine but still far behind, say, GeForce GTX 750. And keep in mind, this 960A has nothing do with the actual GTX 960 which is a very powerful card. This one, the 960A, will be able to play most today’s games with low-medium settings and resolution – including the favorites GTA 5 and Battlefield 4.

What ports and connections are offered?

HP ENVY 34-a010 contains seven USB ports to accommodate your peripherals. Three of them are USB 2.0 and four are USB 3.0. There seems to one HDMI port which is an output, so you can connect a secondary monitor to this desktop.

The unit doesn’t have a DVD burner, but it still includes a memory card reader for SD, SDHC and SDXC formats.

You can use the Gigabit LAN port to connect to Internet with cable, or then the dual-band AC WiFi card which also supports Bluetooth 4.0.

Miscellaneous yet important things

Now, the screen is large here! It’s a 34 inches diagonal and features a slightly curved design. The maximum resolution is 3440×1440 which means you can enjoy high-quality movies here. If you want to split the screen so you have many “screens” side by side, you can do that at least in the operating system by resizing windows yourself. The top 1080p camera is good for chatting in Skype or filming something for YouTube.

Wireless optical mouse and keyboard are included.

Verdict

The most prominent feature of HP ENVY 34-a010 is the huge, curved screen, so if you’re doing work that requires large display (or just otherwise enjoy one), it makes sense to check this HP out. Performance is adequate for home and office use, even gaming on low settings can happen thanks to the dedicated (yet entry-level) graphics card.
