At a glance, HP 20-c010 doesn’t look bad at all. It’s an All-in-One desktop meaning that everything necessary is included, and also the price is rather low! Would a home user ask for anything more? Perhaps not, but let’s not announce this computer the winner just yet…
Who is it good for?
For daily tasks and leisure time, such as emails, paper writing and web surfing HP 20-c010 is a great tool (any computer is, to that matter). The dual-core Intel Celeron J3060 (1.6GHz – 2.48GHz) is indeed a very basic processor, but for these easier tasks it’s all you need. The same can be said about the included 4GB RAM which you can upgrade to 8GB since there’s another slot free (8GB is the maximum memory per specifications).
In general, the desktop is also good for budget hunters. I don’t know if you can get a working computer cheaper than this. Everything is included: the system unit itself, USB keyboard and mouse, and a 19.5 inches display. The display features TN panel and 1600×900 resolution, not Full HD, but what can you do for this price?
Who is it bad for?
HP 20-c010 isn’t ideal for heavier software and it’s quite bad for gaming. There’s only the Braswell-based, integrated Intel HD 400 commanding the graphics. You can not realistically play heavy games such as GTA 5, Far Cry 4 or Fallout 4 on this machine. However, throw easier titles such as Sims 4 or Minecraft there and you’ll find those very playable!
Other things you should know about
HP 20-c010 features a minimum set of ports so you can hook up some devices to this desktop. There are four USBs at your disposal (two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0). In addition, HDMI-out is offered in case you want to plug in a secondary monitor like HDTV for some reason. Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port is available, also WiFi card is (802.11n standard + Bluetooth 4.0).
The computer features a DVD burner and you will also get a 3-in-1 memory card reader. With that, you can transfer data between the computer and those media cards. It supports SD, SDHC and SDXC formats.
The motherboard isn’t fancy, it doesn’t have room for expansions save the secondary RAM slot.
Windows 10 Home (64-bit) is the operating system.
The most essential thing about HP 20-c010 is the value: it’s like the cheapest All-in-One currently in market, and it offers good baseline performance for home and SMB users out there. Day-to-day computing will be effortless, including web browsers and video streaming services, but obviously gaming won’t be easy due to bad graphics performance. However, for this price many things are forgiven; if you’re looking for a basic desktop computer, it’s hard to go wrong with this HP!
