Is it a perfect laptop you want? Well, that’s a tough job because there are so many options to choose from! One good pick might be Dell Inspiron i7359-5984SLV, a 2-in-1 laptop with heavyweight components and higher-than-average price tag. I will let you know more about its features, and how they could benefit you…

The good

Dell Inspiron i7359-5984SLV has a touch display that rotates 360 degrees (operating angle, that is). In other words, it serves as a laptop and tablet. This is good in a way that if you indeed need both, you need not to carry two different devices with you – this 2-in-1 Dell is enough. Also, the 13.3″ display has 1920×1080 resolution, meaning a lot of screen estate is available – for example, you can keep two browser windows side by side without problems.

The processor performance is also great. There is Intel Core i7-6500U processor inside, with a dual-core setup offering you 2.5GHz clock speed and a high 3.1GHz turbo. The CPU Mark score is quite high for a laptop processor, around 4400. Be it a web browser or video editor you want to run, this CPU won’t be the bottleneck. Also the RAM amount is appropriate for heavy stuff – 8GB – however don’t forget you can’t upgrade it since just one memory slot resides on the mainboard.

The WiFi interface offers excellent dual-band AC standard and Bluetooth 4.0 support, however RJ-45 port is not there. You can fix that with cheap USB adapter.

The keyboard is a backlit one.

The neutral

Well, I can’t say Dell Inspiron i7359-5984SLV has the best storage drive in the world. It’s a so-called hybrid drive with 500GB 5400RPM HDD part and a small 8GB SSD cache. It’s somewhat faster than a pure platter-based hard drive, however slower than a real SSD. You can’t decide what files are put on the SSD part, the computer will do that for you. It’s connected to a SATA 3 interface, you can change it if you have the skills.

There are three USB 3.0 for plugging in your peripherals; also HDMI-out is included if you want to use this computer with a bigger screen.

SD card slot is available, so memory cards are supported.

The 3-cell 43Whr battery is an integrated one, so upgrading it is a tough task. However, you probably don’t need to replace it for years. It should last 5 hours on lightweight use.

The bad

It’s the gaming performance that is not good with Dell Inspiron i7359-5984SLV. Being a small unit it doesn’t have dedicated graphics, just integrated Intel HD 520. It’s not a catastrophe but you will have to be careful with settings: for example, low settings and 720p resolution is going to give you ~25 FPS. You can not install a faster card in this machine, but if you’re fine with older games, you’re going to get better frame rates.

There is no optical drive in this computer; you need an external drive to work with discs.

I imagine many people would find Dell Inspiron i7359-5984SLV useful. It offers a lot: a 360 degree turning Full HD screen, powerful processor (Core i7) and lightweight frame. So on one hand you have a fast laptop and on the other hand a fully functional tablet at your disposal. You may use this thing for any software – so good are the components – however be careful with gaming as there is no dedicated graphics installed. If this kind of package sounds like your cup of tea, don’t hesitate to take a closer look at it!
