Choosing a laptop is easy if you have a set budget and your candidate has received a lot of positive user reports. But what if the notebook is rather new, like this Dell Inspiron i5567-3655GRY, and not many reviews exist yet. A good idea is to read professional opinion about the product. And below, you will find one!

How fast is this thing?

Among the best features of Dell Inspiron i5567-3655GRY is its processor. The Intel Core i5-7200U is a late 2016 release, a brand new dual-core unit, offering a decent 2.5GHz clock frequency with 3.1GHz turbo boost. These numbers translate to very good laptop performance as CPU Mark gives around 4800 points to this bad boy (in comparison, basic Pentiums get less than half of that). So, there surely is some oomph if heavyweight programs are your friend!

The memory is provided by a single 8GB DDR4 2400MHz stick. Sufficing for 98% of people, the free slot on mainboard means you can upgrade to 16GB if you want to.

Too bad the performance of this notebook is slightly hindered by the storage drive. You see, the 1TB 5400RPM hard drive isn’t the fastest one in the bunch. The bright side is the sheer storage, you can pile up around two hundred thousand images there for example. In case you want to go extreme, just upgrade the drive to SSD!

Can I use it for gaming?

Surely you can try gaming on Dell Inspiron i5567-3655GRY but just don’t get too excited. Dedicated graphics card is nowhere to be found here, only the integrated Intel HD 620 chip inside the processor. The advantage is, the HD 620 is one of the better integrated models so you’re getting at least something. You can try the rather demanding GTA 5 on minimum settings and resolution and get ~30 frames per second. On the other hand, the simpler Counter-Strike: Go will give +40FPS even on very high settings and 1080p resolution.

What ports does it have?

Admittedly Dell Inspiron i5567-3655GRY is not full of ports but the basics are covered. The usual three USB ports are present, two of those are USB 3.0 while one is USB 2.0. They’re used to hook up devices like external hard drive or mouse to this laptop. You will also find HDMI-output on the side, to that you can connect a monitor if you want to.

Like with most laptops also the Dell includes two networking possibilities. First, a 100Mbps RJ-45 port if you want the stability of cabled connection, or then WiFi card (dual-band 1×1 802.11ac standard, Bluetooth 4.2) for the convenience of wireless internet.

There’s a tray-load optical drive in this computer which reads and burns DVDs. Also available is SD card slot which can be used to transfer data from/to memory cards.

Miscellaneous yet important things

For the money you’re getting a pretty decent screen. I mean, the display has 15.6″ diagonal yet the resolution is Full HD – things should appear crystal screen on this screen. It’s also a touch sensitive model so you can swipe Windows 10 if you want to – however many find the good old trackpad and keyboard still the best!

Included is a 3-cell 42Whr battery, from that you can expect a maximum 6 hours of lightweight use (web surfing, text editing etc) until you need to plug the laptop in and charge it.

The keyboard is backlit on this notebook.

Dell Inspiron i5567-3655GRY makes a good companion for people who appreciate raw performance. The new Core i5 processor is the laptop cream of the crop and will propel the machine through any software, be it casual programs like Mozilla Firefox or more exotic such as Photoshop. The Full HD screen will be welcomed by power users and the 1TB hard drive provides large if slow-performance storage. Anyway, for the current price, I can not really complain!
