Let me tell you why Dell Inspiron i5459-4020BLK is a good option for people who want convenience: it’s an All-in-One desktop which in essence means that the system unit is placed behind the screen. Also, mouse and keyboard are bundled with the package. You don’t need to hunt for missing parts which surely sounds excellent, but are there any reasons why one might not choose this Dell..?

Is it really a fast desktop?

To be honest, All-in-One computers are not often known for their great performance. But Dell Inspiron i5459-4020BLK is somewhat different. It features no low-end Celerons or Pentiums as a processor – rather, there’s a mid-range Intel Core i5-6400T running the show. It is a quad-core chip with 2.2GHz clock speed and 2.8GHz turbo speed. Not bad stats, also CPU Mark score is around 5200 – in comparison entry-level AiO processors are in the range of 1000-2000. So don’t fear of using this desktop for heavier software either, it will plow through everything you throw at it!

There is nothing wrong with the RAM as there is 12GB installed (one 8GB stick and one 4GB). It’s sufficient for keeping things running smoothly – maximum would be 16GB but going to that from 12GB won’t bring a big difference. The storage section is powered by a basic, one terabyte 5400RPM hard drive. Connected to a SATA 3 interface, you can upgrade it to SSD if you prefer a faster computer over huge storage (no additional slots are available for a secondary drive).

How’s the gaming side of things?

The gaming performance of Dell Inspiron i5459-4020BLK is not too high. The integrated graphics engine Intel HD 530 can take some beating, but you’ll need to be careful with the level of eye candy. For example, on normal settings and 1366×768 you’ll get closer to 30FPS on GTA 5 – it’s not perfect but in my opinion, quite playable. And if you play games that have less fancy graphics (World of Warcraft anyone?) you’re going to get far better frame rates.

You can’t upgrade to dedicated graphics, there is no free slot for a graphics card inside.

Is it possible to connect devices?

Sure, you can spice up Dell Inspiron i5459-4020BLK with several devices. For example, it has HDMI input and output. So, you can either plug in another monitor to the desktop and use the computer through that, or you can use Dell’s own monitor with some HDMI-enabled device of yours, such as gaming console.

There are also USB ports at your disposal; you can hook up devices like laser/inkjet printer, external drive or charge your smartphone/camera with them. The setup for USBs is four USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0.

To access Internet you can use the 1000Mbps Ethernet controller (RJ-45 port) or then go wireless with the WiFi adapter (dual-band 802.11ac standard with Bluetooth 4.0).

Using discs is not going to be a problem, the desktop is equipped with a tray load DVD burner. You can also use memory cards, SD(XC/HC) & MMC card slot is included.

Other benefits for you

The display of Dell Inspiron i5459-4020BLK is very similar to a separate PC monitor. The diagonal is 23.8 inches and maximum resolution is 1920×1080, just like in your average desktop display. Touch is supported and the IPS panel means great viewing angles, closer to 180 degrees. The screen bezel has a webcam, it features 1280×720 video resolution – use it for Skype video chats if you want to.

Operating system is unsurprisingly Windows 10 Home (64-bit).

Finding a powerful and useful All-in-One desktop can be quite a challenge, but if you ask me, Dell Inspiron i5459-4020BLK fills that criteria. There will not be problems with running software, ranging from basic stuff like web browser to more advanced programs like video encoding or Adobe family. Gaming is also possible, but remember the limitations of the integrated graphics card: settings won’t be high. If this sounds interesting to you, then I recommend taking a closer look at this AiO Dell!
