There are so many 2-in-1 laptops available so how can you know which one to choose? It’s indeed a tough choice, and we offer you one candidate right here: the Dell Inspiron i3169-0013GRY. It’s one of the better selling models so at least some things should be good about it. Let’s see…

The good

For web browsing, which includes video streaming, Dell Inspiron i3169-0013GRY is good. Its processor, the dual core Intel Core m3-6Y30, features only 0.9GHz clock speed yet the turbo boost is 2.2GHz and in CPU Mark, the average score is about ~3000 (around the same than 5th generation Core i3s get, for example). So the processor is all good for lightweight use, so is the 4GB memory. Keep in mind the manual mentions that 4GB is the maximum configuration supported so might be you can not upgrade the RAM.

The power is provided by a lightweight 2-cell 32Whr battery. Getting 4-6 hours out of that should be very possible, especially if you don’t mind dimming the screen a little.

The neutral

The display of Dell Inspiron i3169-0013GRY is not bad or wonderful. It looks like a basic 11.6 inches touch display, featuring 1366×768 resolution which is enough for this size. The most “exotic” thing is the hinge that rotates 360 degrees, allowing you to operate this computer in laptop and tablet modes. A basic webcam is installed in the top bezel.

There is no backlit keyboard on this model; however I can understand that considering the low price.

Connectors include one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, they are enough to plug in many peripherals. You’ll also find a regular HDMI-out in case you want to hook up a monitor. The only way to get Internet access would be the WiFi + Bluetooth card, RJ-45 port isn’t available.

This is so small laptop that you won’t get optical drive here. However micro SD card slot is included.

The bad

Unfortunately, Dell Inspiron i3169-0013GRY doesn’t include a solid-state drive, just a 500GB 5400RPM hard drive. It breaks easier and is slower than SSD. Well, there are other models of this laptop that have SSD (or its poor man’s version, the eMMC) installed. Hard drive is not horrible but don’t expect the best performance with that!

This computer won’t handle complex games. Only the less demanding ones like League of Legends or Diablo 3 work. The integrated Intel HD 515 is far from a powerhouse so if you try to throw in games like GTA 5 or The Witcher 3 you’ll get disappointed. Prepare for FPS around 20 or less.

Dell Inspiron i3169-0013GRY has mostly received positive attention, and for a reason. The price is quite affordable yet the set of benefits it offers is solid: 2-in-1 functionality, good baseline performance and plenty of storage (albeit slow drive). The biggest hurdle would be gaming aspect but then again, who uses these things for gaming in the first place? If you want a decent budget machine this one could be worthy to check out!
