Dell i5368-8833GRY belongs to the popular 2-in-1 laptop category, meaning its hinge turns a full 360 degrees. But unlike many other convertible notebooks this unit seems to pack a lot of performance. However, entirely another question is whether such a powerhouse is actually worthy of buying, and to that I’m giving my answer below!

Looking inside the engine room, points must be given to the processor. Intel Core i7-6500U is a power user’s dream, running on two cores and 2.5GHz clock speed (with 3.1Ghz turbo). Being one of the Intel’s laptop flagships, it gets a very decent ~4300 score in CPU Mark tests, meaning that it’s Photoshop (or other heavy software) proof. You also won’t be disappointed with the memory this laptop offers: one 8GB DDR4 2133MHz stick is installed and you can add in another one to up the RAM to 16GB.

Dell i5368-8833GRY has a beautiful 13.3-inch display supporting Full HD resolution. Other interesting points include the hinge that rotates the unit into a tablet. Viewing angles are 160 degrees according to manual. On top of the screen you will find a 720p webcam for video.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a solid-state drive in a convertible laptop. These units might get tossed around a bit or even dropped so a durable SSD would be a good idea. Unfortunately, this notebook doesn’t have one, just a 1TB 5400RPM hard drive. Luckily, you can take it out and put in SSD if you know how to.

Dell i5368-8833GRY isn’t very suitable for gaming. Reason is simple, there is no dedicated graphics card and the integrated Intel HD 520 can’t take too much beating. You need to be rather careful with the settings, for example GTA 5 won’t give more than 25-30FPS on low-medium details and 1366×768 resolution. Minecraft and League of Legends will do better.

Other benefits and features

Battery life is not exactly known, but the 4-cell 56Whr unit approximately lasts 5-6 hours for web surfing before you need to recharge it.

Despite the laptop being small you’ll find ports in it. There are one USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 and one HDMI output for you. Networking doesn’t include RJ-45 but a speedy WiFi adapter (802.11ac with Bluetooth) surely is available.

A DVD burner is not installed because of size limitations inside. You can use an external one. Also the SD card slot can be utilized.

There is no backlit keyboard in this model.

I have to say that most 2-in-1 laptops are not that powerful. But Dell i5368-8833GRY is different. It happens to be one of the fastest convertible models in market today, so power users rejoice. Core i7 processor and 8GB RAM are certainly enough for serious bit crunching. You still don’t want to game too hard on this machine because of the integrated graphics, but for other heavier use this 2-in-1 Dell is the real deal.
