Dell is one of the biggest laptop manufacturers so you could expect some quality from it. The model we’re taking a look at today is Dell i5368-0027GRY. It being quite cheap makes you wonder if the notebook is a decent machine in the first place… In this review you will find my professional opinion on the matter!
Main components and their benefits
Dell i5368-0027GRY runs on Pentium and those processors are slow, right? Not necessarily. This Intel Pentium 4405U is a dual-core model with 2.1GHz clock speed, and in CPU Mark tests it gets around 3000 points. That is similar to some Core i3 processors of the 5th generation, so there’s definitely enough oomph for your daily dose of web surfing and videos!
The offered storage is a 500GB 5400RPM hard drive, I don’t give too many points for that. Many people these days would like to get SSD, and the only way to get it with this laptop is to upgrade yourself. But then again, if you’re just a casual user, chances are you’ll be good with the current hard drive.
4GB memory isn’t much, but the notebook sports two RAM slots which means you can upgrade to 16GB if you want.
What ports and connections are there?
You’ll get three USB ports with Dell i5368-0027GRY which is the usual amount. One of those is USB 2.0 and two are USB 3.0. The video output is the lone HDMI, accepting a PC monitor or television. Networking happens through the single-band AC WiFi card with Bluetooth 4.0 support.
The unit is rather small so it doesn’t have space for internal optical drive. But to your benefit SD card slot is included.
Is it good for gaming?
You can’t really call this Dell a gaming laptop, it has a small screen and more importantly, only Intel HD 510 which is an integrated graphics card. It’s not better than other integrated units, and playing newer games such as GTA 5 or Battlefield 4 won’t be enjoyable – FPS will be around 20 even on low settings. But throw in Fifa, CS: Go or Minecraft and you’ll get playable frame rates.
Dell i5368-0027GRY has a compact 13.3″ touch display with 1920×1080 resolution support – that is sweet! Also, the screen folds back, in another words works in tablet mode thanks to the 360 degree hinge. There is a 720p webcam in the top bezel for Skype sessions if you want.
The laptop’s 3-cell 42Whr battery is integrated in the unit so it’s a challenge to replace. But on a single charge the battery will last rather long, more than 6 hours if you’re just surfing the web.
There’s no backlit keyboard on this computer.
People who bought Dell i5368-0027GRY have been mostly happy with it. It’s not too hard to see why: the price doesn’t hurt much yet there is a Full HD screen and decent performance for day-to-day computing. A/C WiFi is also an important feature for many, but the lack of SSD is probably the biggest disadvantage of this unit. However, it’s not a bad laptop at all, and for the money offers enough quality and performance to justify the purchase!
