Having deep pockets is a certain requirement if you’re into gaming computers. But not even all of those are that expensive – for example CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme GXi9880A is one of the gaming desktops that most people could afford. It also seems to be full of components ready to rock your games, let’s keep this good thing in mind and take a closer look at the rig!
Is it perfect for gaming?
It’s delightful to see a fast graphics card, the GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB), in this laptop. Surely it is not the absolutely fastest engine, yet still more than enough for Full HD gaming. The older pinnacle GTX 980 beats it, and the GTX 970 is in the same category. Some of the popular games that run fine include (high and ultra settings, 1080p):
– Doom, +80FPS
– GTA 5, +90FPS
– Battlefield 4, +90FPS
– The Witcher 3, +50FPS
If you want to use higher resolutions than Full HD, some most demanding games might become problematic. But with 1920×1080 everything will be smooth without lag occurring. If you want to upgrade, the system can take GTX 1080. And at any rate the current card is VR ready.
And other components, are they good?
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme GXi9880A does not suffer from poor processing performance. In fact, the Intel Core i5-6600K is going to take you to a next level. It having four cores there are some great multitasking capabilities present. The clock speed of 3.5GHz is already high, while turbo is going to up it to 3.9GHz. Nothing gaming or software wise will be too big an issue for this chip!
The drive bays have two storage units: a 2TB 7200RPM hard drive, plus a 120GB solid-state drive. Of course, operating system Windows 10 Home is installed on the SSD part. It is true the solid-state drive isn’t too big here, however it can still hold a few of your favorite games no problem! And again, both drives can be swapped for bigger ones so you’re not stuck with these.
The memory is 8GB DDR4, a usual choice for today’s desktops. I know it will be a fine amount for most of the users. However, if you want to get more, you can go to 64 gigabytes if I recall correctly. Free RAM slots are available on the mainboard.
Does it have good ports and connections?
From what I can see, CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme GXi9880A can hold three monitors at the same time. The graphics card holds HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort connectors and to each you can plug in a different monitor.
Available are six USB 3.0 ports, they will gladly accept all your devices you need to install. At least keyboard and mouse will eat up USB ports and perhaps external drive if you want to use one for some reason.
There is a 24x DVD burner installed in the front panel, behind the white wall.
The back panel houses a Gigabit RJ-45 port which is great for wired networking. But what if you want to go wireless? Well, sadly this computer doesn’t have built-in WiFi. But it’s easy to use USB to WiFi dongle, they’re cheap and work in plug’n’play manner!
What other interesting things the desktop has?
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme GXi9880A does not include monitor, to be honest rare are the gaming desktops that do. But surely keyboard and mouse come shipped with this computer.
Unfortunately the power supply wattage is not listed anywhere. However, considering it can hold the GTX1060 it can also support another high-end card.
There are good reviews elsewhere about CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme GXi9880A, and also this review is one of those. The essential thing about this rig is the ability to run all games, no matter the age or level of graphics, as long as you stay in the Full HD range of resolution. In addition to games, of course all kinds of software are a piece of cake. I’m sure if you find a good monitor for this, you’ll be only happy with the CyberpowerPC!
