CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Ultra GUA550, it seems to be an inexpensive desktop for gaming. Now, the words “cheap” and “gaming” don’t usually go together, but would they here? At least a decent graphics engine GeForce GTX 950 is included. But let’s not make any judgements yet…
How’s the gaming performance?
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Ultra GUA550 is a player’s choice, it comes with the dedicated GeForce GTX 950 card with 2GB memory. As a real life example, you can expect ~45FPS on Grand Theft Auto 5 played on Full HD and high/very high settings. Using similar settings, Fallout 4 would give +30 frames per second. These are pretty sweet counts, but if you’re not happy you can of course replace the graphics card (no SLI supported).
Other components under the hood
The processor isn’t any worse in CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Ultra GUA550, it’s the AMD FX-6300 of six cores, 3.5GHz clock speed and 4.1GHz turbo. It does a good job in benchmarks, CPU Mark grading it at ~6300 points. The thing is, you can use this processor (and the whole computer) for any non-gaming stuff such as video editing or programming, easily.
The memory is already maxed out, 16GB with two 8GB DDR3 sticks. Such a RAM amount is plenty, it’s very sufficient for heavyweight use. The storage section consists of a huge 2TB 7200RPM SATA hard drive – there are two free 3.5″ slots for more drives (also SSD can be installed with an adapter).
What ports and connections does it have?
Many USB ports are found in CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Ultra GUA550 – it has eight USB 2.0 ports for printers, extra drives, input devices and such. Keep in mind no USB 3.0 is supported. Video outputs are DVI-D and HDMI, meaning that two monitors can be connected at the same time.
For networking, there’s an excellent 1000Mbps Ethernet circuit with RJ-45 port in the back. WiFi is not built-in, but you can buy a cheap USB adapter to get wireless networking.
Some kind of audio ports are also present in back panel, although I couldn’t find exactly what ports.
An internal optical drive (24X DVD burner) is included.
Does it offer any other features and benefits?
The desktop ships with a gaming keyboard and mouse. But keep in mind you must buy monitor yourself. After you’ve got the display, it’s a fully functioning computer.
The PSU is rated at 600W.
Operating system is Windows 10 Home (64-bit).
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Ultra GUA550 is a fancy looking, rather powerful desktop for those who have a knack for PC gaming. You might not be able to use maxed out settings all the time if you’re playing a very demanding game, but lowering the eye candy will ensure smooth FPS on any current title. Other kinds of use are also a smooth sail thanks to the beefy processor and RAM. All in all, I can recommend this desktop for a person serious about his gaming hobby!
