It’s gaming laptops that are hot these days, but a good old desktop might be more suitable for that task – at least if you’re not planning to play on the road! CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3100A is one of the desktop computers meant for gaming – it looks like a beast and has decent components like quad-core AMD and dedicated Radeon graphics card running the show. But the price is quite low, which might make you doubtful about the actual performance. Well, let’s examine the computer further to see what it’s really about!

Performance in a nutshell

CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3100A is supposed to be a powerful desktop, but it’s not that powerful. The processor is quad-core AMD FX-4300 with 3.8GHz base speed and 4.0GHz turbo, indeed a fancy name and great clock frequency, but CPU Mark reveals the truth about this chip. In that benchmark, the FX-4300 gets just ~4600 points, while for example 4th generation Intel Core i3-4160 gets around 5000. So yes, some i3s are faster than this AMD, thus it can’t be characterized as a heavyweight processor. Luckily, for gaming, CPU isn’t the most essential component, and considering the low price this AMD is an understandable choice.

The desktop comes with 8GB DDR3 memory. It’s installed on one stick, and there are four slots all in all so maximum memory is 32GB. Hard drive is a very spacious 1TB 7200RPM (SATA 3) one, and if you’re not satisfied with its performance feel free to remove it and install a faster solid-state drive.

What games does it play?

CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3100A is equipped with Radeon R7 240, a video card using dedicated 2GB GDDR3 memory. It’s a low end gaming unit, you can play many games but not every title would work with ultra settings and Full HD resolution. Here are some examples:

– Grand Theft Auto 5, medium settings and 1366×768: ~40FPS
– Battlefield 4: same than above
– Counter-Strike: Go: ultra settings and 1920×1080: 60+ FPS
– Crysis: low settings and 1280×720: ~30 FPS
– Minecraft, high settings, ~50 FPS
– League of Legends, ultra settings and 1920×1080, +60FPS

If you order from and choose one particular seller, G-System, they will include a faster graphics card than the default Radeon R7 240. I wasn’t able to find out which one it is, but you’ll indeed get better gaming performance that way.

Ports and connections

CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3100A includes 8 USB ports, but sadly all of those are USB 2.0. Video ports are plenty, there are HDMI, DVI and VGA outs so a dual monitor setup will definitely work here.

DVD burner is included. The Gigabit RJ-45 port is the only way to connect to Internet by default.

Something else to keep in mind?

There are a couple of sellers for this system over If you choose G-System, they’ll put a beefier graphics card in (although I don’t know the exact model). They’ll also install a WiFi card and better 500 PSU – the default is 200W. You can also ask them to pre-load Windows 7 rather than Windows 10 Home and include keyboard & mouse.

CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3100A is first and foremost a cheap gaming desktop. Keep that in mind if buying it. You’ll definitely be able to play most games, but the heaviest ones won’t sadly run smoothly if you want to have ultra settings and 1080p on. That’s the trade-off you have to make, the system is indeed a very inexpensive one. If you don’t have the skills to build your own computer, you’re short of money or are OK with using less than full eye candy with some games, then going for this budget gaming system makes perfect sense.

Minecraft at 50 fps? Thats kind of crazy. My mac with crappy intel graphics can get upwards of 110fps. Is there a reason it doesn’t run so well on this PC?

Thank you for the video, and at least that was better than mine. If you even set off one tnt on mine, it will crash my game. I have to play on 3 chunks.

My son purchased this computer and now wants to put a Geforce GTX 750 Graphics card in it. Is that something that can be done on this computer?
