CUK MSI Nightblade MI2 Gamer PC is a heavyweight desktop meant for gaming or very demanding programs. It looks a bit different than your average desktop, it’s more inclined to the gaming style. Inside, you will find a host of top-of-the-line components like Core i7 processor and GeForce GTX 970 graphics card. But I have to tell you, the unit is also damn expensive… Let’s see if it’s really worth the price!
How’s the general performance?
CUK MSI Nightblade MI2 is about power, and only about power. The processor is a monster called Intel Core i7-6700K; it’s equipped with four cores and clock speed is high 4.0GHz that goes even further to 4.2GHz with the help of turbo. You’ll find this processor does an excellent job in CPU Mark: a score of 11000 which is one of the best a processor can currently get. Literally no matter what program you throw here, it will run smooth and clean.
What is really out of this world is the RAM amount: 32GB (two 16GB DDR4 chips, maxed out). Hardly anybody really needs that much, but for stuff like CAD (Computer-Aided Design) it would do well. Also storage selection is something you don’t often see: there is a 3TB hard drive and 250GB SSD installed. Often desktops only come with one 1TB hard drive. Think about that!
Good for gaming as well?
CUK MSI Nightblade MI2 actually works for gaming, too. It has a high-end graphics card called GeForce GTX 970 installed (with 4GB dedicated GDDR5 memory). Put simply, you are able to fire up any game and it’s going to run fine on high / ultra settings. To give you an example, you could play GTA 5 with ultra high details and 1920×1080 and FPS would be around 40. That game is still one of the most demanding ones, meaning that many other titles will run even better.
One thing to keep in mind is the PSU. At 350W it won’t support a heavier card. So if you want to upgrade graphics you also need to upgrade the PSU (which, by the way, seems to have proprietary design). SLI is also not supported.
Enough ports and connections?
CUK MSI Nightblade MI2 comes with many ports: in the rear, there are two USB 2.0, four USB 3.0 and one USB 3.1 Type C. The front has two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.1 Type-C. That is a lot, more than any other desktop has, for connecting your devices. There are also outputs for HDMI and DisplayPort, so connecting many monitors at the same time is possible. Audio is a 7.1 channel one.
Networking interfaces include AC WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 card and Gigabit RJ-45 port for cable.
Tray-load DVD burner is installed as well.
For storage drives there is space for one M.2 SSD (NVMe), two 3.5″ and one 2.5″ drive all in all.
Not exactly a benefit, but keep in mind keyboard, mouse and monitor are not included.
Summing it up
It might be worth your money to get CUK MSI Nightblade MI2 Gamer PC if you are really into desktop gaming and also use a lot of demanding programs, such as Photoshop and video editors. The core components of i7 processor, 32GB RAM and unique storage drive setup will take you far with software. In addition, the GeForce GTX 970 card will be enough for running most games using maxed out settings. In short, this computer offers you everything, but it comes with a price. If you can appreciate all the Nightblade offers, please take a look at it.
