At a glance, ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA-DBM2T looks excellent. The design is impressive, spec list great and reviews positive. In addition, the price isn’t that bad. So the laptop must be a great buy no matter what? Perhaps, or perhaps not, read this review to find out my professional opinion on the subject…
Performance is all good with ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA-DBM2T. Don’t be afraid of the dual-core Intel Core m3-6Y30 processor having 0.9GHz clock speed, it comes with 2.2GHz turbo and receives ~3000 points in CPU Mark (meaning it’s similar to 5th generation Core i3s). The processor is also a low voltage one and thus, has fanless design – the laptop doesn’t make any sound. In addition, there’s 8GB RAM installed and it seems to be the maximum this Asus takes.
Storage drive continues the same excellent trend. It’s a 512GB (M.2 SATA3) solid-state drive, contributing to snappy performance and start-up times (a couple of seconds). It’s also silent, so again no noise from this notebook.
You should get sharp image quality and accurate colors here as the 13.3″ touch screen supports Full HD resolution and IPS panel. The display won’t detach from the keyboard but indeed there’s the 360 degree hinge which allows you to use this laptop in several modes. Filming some flicks for YouTube or Skype video sessions are possible as well since there’s a 720p webcam installed.
ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA-DBM2T weighs 2.6 pounds, it’s quite a lightweight and suitable for traveling. The 3-cell 54Whr battery will last ~8 hours (checked from users who bought this), however remember the battery can not be removed.
The laptop does not have a DVD burner of any sort. You can get an external one, they cost like 30 bucks. SD card slot is included, it accepts small memory cards from cameras, for example.
The ports available are one USB-C Gen 1, two USB 3.0 and one micro HDMI. Networking happens through the built-in wireless card (802.11ac with Bluetooth 4.1).
Wondering if ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA-DBM2T is good friend for a gamer? Not really. This small laptop doesn’t have space for dedicated graphics so the only possible solution is the CPU-integrated graphics engine, this time called Intel HD 515. It’s not bad for lighter games (such as many sports games or Minecraft). However, new titles such as GTA 5 or Battlefield 4 are probably too much for it, getting only 20-30 frames per second when eye candy is turned to minimum.
For this price you could’ve expected to get a backlit keyboard but it is not available here.
ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA-DBM2T is definitely many things. All-in-one laptop, a powerhouse, a notebook with beautiful screen. For all software-related work (includes everything from web browsing to virtualization and image editing programs) the specs are enough, and also the Full HD screen gives power users plenty of screen estate. Of course, the unit will also operate in tablet mode when you want. Only bad thing is gaming performance as there is no dedicated graphics installed. Otherwise, it’s a very decent rig for the modern, demanding laptop user!
