There’s no big advertising campaign behind Acer Aspire F 15 F5-571T-569T but some users have already found it; probably because the laptop seems to offer pretty darn good bang for your buck. It costs a little but offers a 5th generation processor and 8GB RAM, easily enough for most home and small office users. But are there reasons to stay away from this computer..?
What is it good for?
Acer Aspire F 15 F5-571T-569T is sufficient for surfing the web, watching videos off YouTube and playing very lightweight games. It contains the Intel Core i5-4210U processor, a 1.7-2.7GHz unit with a dual-core setup. It’s somewhat faster than older i3 processors, this i5 receiving around 3400 points in CPU Mark. It’s not magnificent score but enough for the aforementioned activities.
The big RAM amount also helps here. You’ll get 8GB memory, but feel free to upgrade it to 16GB with two eight gigabyte sticks. Rest assured, the current 8GB should be enough for 99% of users.
What is it bad for?
Playing games is not the best idea since this unit only features an integrated Intel HD 4400 graphics engine. It’s not horrible if you can do with lower settings, for example using low and 720p should net you ~25FPS on games like Grand Theft Auto 5. So for casual gamers Acer Aspire F 15 F5-571T-569T can do, for hardcore folk not so much.
Please note the laptop doesn’t rock a solid-state drive, instead there’s a 1TB 5400RPM platter hard drive inside. The good thing is, you will never run out of space, but of course the performance is far behind an SSD. But if you know what you’re doing, removing the hard drive and putting in SSD will be a piece of cake.
Other things to keep in mind
There’s been confusion about the 15.6″ screen, but let me tell you its resolution is definitely 1366×768. It also supports touch which however might not be an essential feature with Windows 10.
The included 4-cell battery can’t be replaced (without disassembling the unit). Indeed, non-removable batteries are often found in these cheaper models.
There are in total three USB ports in this Acer; one is USB 2.0 and two are USB 3.0. You’re also able to hook up external displays, there are HDMI and VGA outputs available for that. DVD burner and SD card slot are likewise included.
It looks like networking interfaces are top-notch here, you’ll find a Gigabit RJ-45 port and 802.11ac and Bluetooth adapter ready to connect you to Internet.
Quite a special thing, the laptop features a backlit keyboard. You don’t often find it in this cheap units.
Summing it up
Acer Aspire F 15 F5-571T-569T offers everything a person without the desire to play games would look for in a laptop: appropriate processor, plenty of RAM and big (although tad slow) hard drive. If you have a knack for tinkering, you can always swap the HDD for an SSD. For the gaming aspect you can’t do anything, hence if you’re a player choose something else. But for common programs and applications this Acer is surely enough.
