One of the better selling All-in-One desktops is Acer Aspire AZ3-715-UR61. It has pretty decent reviews over Amazon, and its components seem rather good considering the affordable price. So, the Acer looks like a surefire choice, but let’s still examine it further before drawing the final conclusion…

General performance

In the best possible meaning of the word, Acer Aspire AZ3-715-UR61 has an average desktop processor. It’s the Intel Core i5-6400T, a quad-core 2.2GHz 6th generation CPU with 2.8GHz turbo boost. The benchmark called CPU Mark gives it ~5400 points and that’s exactly why I call it an average unit since most processors in desktops get similar amount. It can take you through a day of web surfing and text editing as well as Photoshopping easily.

The system contains 8GB memory, one DDR4 stick. In my opinion everyone can do with it, however just know the maximum is 32 gigabytes (with two 16GB sticks, that is).

Hard drive disappoints me a bit, it’s 1TB 5400RPM model, rather slow in comparison to solid-state drives. I don’t think you can add extra drives, however remember you can still upgrade the current one by opening up the system case.

Does the desktop work for gaming?

Acer Aspire AZ3-715-UR61 has a graphics card, the laptop-level GeForce 940M using 2GB dedicated video RAM. It’s a bit faster than integrated units however still nowhere near desktop cards like GTX760 and such. Anyway, if you can do without maximum settings and resolution on many games, you should be alright with this GeForce. Some examples include:

– Grand Theft Auto, medium settings and 720p, ~60FPS
– Battlefield 4, medium settings and 720p, ~50FPS
– Counter-Strike: Go, max settings and 108p, +60FPS
– Minecraft, +80FPS

What ports and connections are offered?

Acer Aspire AZ3-715-UR61 offers you a decent set of ports, the most important ones being:

– Five USB. One USB 2.0 and four USB 3.0. You can connect wired keyboard, mouse, external drives and such to them.
– HDMI output. If you want, you can hook up another screen to that.
– HDMI input. That can be used with a device, such as playing Xbox through the desktop’s screen
– Gigabit RJ-45 and Wireless. Connecting to Internet with cable is possible, also the WiFi (802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.0) works.

The desktop contains a DVD writer, however remember BluRays aren’t supported.

What other things to keep in mind?

It’s a big 23.8 inches non-touch display you’re getting with Acer Aspire AZ3-715-UR61. The maximum resolution 1920×1080 should suffice for casual users and professionals. There’s a built-in webcam on top, Skype video chats work well.

The unit needs to be plugged to power socket at all times, it does not contain battery. But it surely is a plug’n’play computer, with also wireless keyboard and mouse included. Display and the actual system are built into one unit.

Windows 10 Home 64-bit is the operating system.

Verdict

Acer Aspire AZ3-715-UR61 gives a lot of performance and beautiful screen for homes, offices and schools. You can run pretty much any kind of software there, starting from simple Google Chrome & MS Office and ending in more exotic ones such as Adobe image editors. Likewise gaming is possible if you’re not after maxed out settings on every game. The desktop connects to wireless networks and everything is included to get you started with. If this kind of system tickles your fancy, go on and buy it!
